"The Lion King" CGI  remake is set to debut on July 19, 2019. Which has me excited for several reasons. Number one, the cast is amazing! Check it out:

  • Donald Glover is Simba (originally voiced by Matthew Broderick)
  • Beyonce is Nala! (BEYONCE!)
  • James Earl Jones is back as Mufasa (because NO ONE can replace him!)
  • Alfre Woodward is Sarabi (she just seems like the motherly type)
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor is Scar (I kinda liked Jeremy Irons as Scar BUT Chiwetel definitely has the voice to live up to it)
  • Seth Rogen is Pumbaa (that laugh! I cannot wait to hear it as Pumbaa)
  • Billy Eichner is Timon (I love Billy's shrill when he freaks out!)
  • John Oliver is Zazu (perfect!)

And another reason I'm excited: Elton John is teaming up with Tim Rice once again to work on the soundtrack. John has also confirmed that Beyonce will also help out on a song for the film's closing credits. But here's where fans get upset, John has confirmed that only four of the film's original songs will be included in the remake. Those songs include: "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" "I Just Can't Wait To Be King" "Hakuna Matata" and of course "Circle of Life." If you're wondering what is there to be upset about, well, there is one major song that is missing from that list; "Be Prepared." The iconic song that Scar sang to his hyenas. It wasn't as popular as the others on the list when it first came out, but has since become a cult favorite.

Aside from that bummer, I'm still excited to see the remake! Take the poll above to let us know what YOUR favorite "The Lion King" song is!
