Stone Sour has been working on their latest for a while now, and Corey has been talking about it being a huge concept record, and not a singles-based album. He's just finished laying down the vocals for their fourth album, and they've announced more information about it!
We've been hearing a lot about the new Stone Sour double-CD concept recording they've been working on, House of Bones and Gold, that should be out in October. What we really haven't heard is any of the music.
Until now.
Stone Sour are undergoing yet another lineup change, as the band has officially parted ways with bassist Shawn Economaki.
Corey Taylor had one hell of a year in 2011. Slipknot returned to the stage after the tragic death of bassist Paul Gray and Taylor went on a spoken word/acoustic solo tour and even released the New York Times bestselling book, ‘Seven Deadly Sins.’ In that vein, Taylor has wasted no time in 2012, hyping up the upcoming album from his other band, Stone Sour.
STONE SOUR and SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor played the fourth show of his solo tour this past Friday night (November 18) at Trees in Dallas, Texas. Called "An Evening With Corey Taylor", the concerts feature Taylor doing both spoken-word and acoustic performances, along with question-and-answer sessions with the audience.
When asked by an audience member about his experience working with legendary producer Rick Rubin , Corey said....
I'm really excited about the new album! Wasn't too thrilled for Audio Secrecy though. I've been a fan for a long time, so let's see what happens in the new album.
"On a musical scale, artistically, visually, we're going to swing for the fences with this one. If we can pull it off, it would be really cool and... put a lot of people in their place. I'm really excited to get working on it." Corey Taylor

Stone Sour have enlisted the drumming prowess of ex-Dream Theater stickman Mike Portnoy for their upcoming one-off show at the Rock in Rio Festival in Brazil on Sept. 24.
