Mike Portnoy has been a busy guy since he left Dream Theater a few years ago. He's recorded and released albums with Neal Morse, Flying Colors, Adrenaline Mob; he's done tours for all of these bands, as well as touring with Billy Sheehan, Derek Sherinian and Tony MacAlpine; put out DVDs with them; and worked with John Sykes on an album that may never even get finished.

Tuesday is the release day for albums and DVDs and such here in the US, and I thought I'd start sharing some of the things coming out every week, in case you're looking for some new music to check out, or might have forgotten about some. This is by no means a complete list, as I don't want to bore you, or myself, with a long list of crappy pop albums that always seem to be coming out.

Lisa Sanchez saw them first, and we're happy she did. At a record party in Austin, Lisa spotted The Virginmarys performing and invited them to drop by. The band performed unique acoustic versions of their hits "Dead Man's Shoes" and "Just A Ride". You also ought to hear them plugged in because they are electrifying. Their official video for "Just A Ride" is at bottom.
