Metallica‘s ‘Beyond Magnetic’ EP will see release in another format: silver vinyl. At first, the EP was digital only and then issued on CD. Now, to celebrate Record Store Day, the metal monoliths will release the EP on wax of the silver sort. Record Store Day is April 21, so look for it at your favorite mom and pop record retailer then, or via their website.
As Metallica gear up to record their 10th studio album, drummer Lars Ulrich reveals that the band is trying to find “wacky” new strategies for getting the music to the fans who want it.
Many Metallica fans were left asking questions after the announcement of the incredibly diverse lineup for the ‘Orion Music + More‘ festival in Atlantic City, N.J. Ever ready to be spokesman for the band, drummer Lars Ulrich steps up to explain some of those decisions.
Metallica announced their own Orion Music + More Festival earlier this month, which offers an incredibly eclectic and not exactly metallic lineup. Drummer Lars Ulrich addressed the diversity of the bill immediately, since the band pretty much knew fans might be scratching their heads about a lineup featuring Metallica thrashing about alongside indie acts like Modest Mouse and Best Coast. Ulrich said, “If you took our four iPods and scanned through them, you’d find the biggest variety and diversity of music. So we’re trying to bring that spirit to the festival.” Festival promoter Charlie Walker of C3 also weighed in about the unexpected acts Metallica chose to feature.
Clifford Lee "Cliff" Burton (February 10, 1962 – September 27, 1986)
Burton joined Metallica in 1982 and performed on its debut studio album, Kill 'Em All. He performed on two more Metallica albums, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets!
On September 27, 1986, Burton died when the band's tour bus over-turned in rural southern Sweden. Burton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Metallica on April 4, 2009.

The most successful metal show since the iconic ‘Headbangers Ball,’ ‘That Metal Show’ boasts an all-star lineup of guests for their 10th season, including Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith, Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich and Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister.
Metallica just officially announced that they will be headlining the 2012 Orion Music + More Festival. The two-day fest of rocking musical evenings will be held on June 23 and 24 in Atlantic City, N.J. Along with Metallica, who will be headlining both nights, bands featured on the eclectic lineup include Arctic Monkeys, Modest Mouse and Avenged Sevenfold.
