Update (5:45PM ET): This story has been amended with a statement from Stone Sour confirming that Jim Root is in fact no longer in the band.
Earlier this year, guitarist Jim Root sat out Stone Sour's tour with the reason given that he was concentrating his efforts on writing music for Slipknot's next album. However, now the band has announced that it has parted ways with Root.
Every boy has one true love. For some, okay a lot, of guys, it's a girl. For guitar players, it can also be a girl, but more often than not, it's a really cool guitar.
Jim Root shares with us his favorite guitar in this little segment, "Me and My Guitar".
I'm a sucker for gear videos. I love to see what the bands are using to get the sounds they want for the studio, the tour, whatever. I guess it feeds into my GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) that I suffer from.
Stone Sour has really good tone on their albums and on the road, and if you want to know how they get them, this is the video for you...and me, for sure. Enjoy!
Jim Root and Josh Rand from Stone Sour did an interview with Fret12, giving a cool look at what gear they're using on the road, and how they get their sounds. Guitars players will love this look at the gear, and non-guitar players will just like the humor and cool behind the scenes stuff. Enjoy!
