Thursday night, the Abraham Chavez Theatre progged out with some of the masters of the genre hitting the stage in front of a packed crowd. Dream Theater and Crimson Projekct displayed so much technical mastery over their music and instruments, I wouldn't be surprised if Craigslist had a bunch of new instruments up for sale the day after!

Progressive metal masters Dream Theater have waited a long, long time to hear that they’ve been nominated for a Grammy Award, but last night, the 26-year wait was put to an end. ‘On the Backs of Angels’ from their 2011 release ‘A Dramatic Turn of Events’ put Dream Theater among the nominees for the Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance award.

Part three of the Dream Theater documentary traking the selection of their new drummer came out at 9 this morning. As a lot of people were already guessing, Mike Mangini was selected to fill Mike Portnoy's drums shoes.

There were a lot of clues, such as the other front runner stating a few months ago that he wasn't the new drummer, Mike Mangini cancelling his teaching gig at Berkley College of Music in Boston, etc.
