In Django: Unchained there are all the calling cards of a Tarantino movie: witty patter and reparte, quirky characterizations and intense emotional conflict. Everything I expect in a QT movie is there. It's just that I feel like I've seen it before.

Mostly, it's Tarantino lifting from the film-maker that he admires most: Tarantino.  This is the plot of every Quentin Tarantino movie (not counting Deathproof) since Jackie Brown.  In other words, every Tarantino movie since 1997 has had the same goddamned plot!

It was very good and Denzel Washington definitely deserves an Oscar nomination. But the movie is not really what the trailers lead you to believe.
