Rolling Stone, who aren't really known for their stellar coverage of metal in general (IMHO) have released their reader-poll results for best metal albums of all time. Unsurprisingly, it was totally dominated by Metallica's four monster albums, "Master of Puppets", "Ride The Lightning", "...And Justice For All" and "Metallica". Who else made the list?
If you weren’t at Lollapalooza, you missed one of only a handful of performances that Black Sabbath are playing this year. Three-fourths of the original band have booked only a handful of dates while Tony Iommi recovers from cancer treatments earlier in the year, and now fan-shot video footage (courtesy of Jason Jude as branded on the clips) from the entire Lollapalooza performance has found its way online.
It was one of the most welcome surprises of 2011, and now comes word that the collaborative effort WhoCares featuring Black Sabbath‘s Tony Iommi and Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan will be more than just a one-off charity single project.
A couple of days ago, we told you rumor had it that the 2012 Lollapalooza lineup would feature Red Hot Chili Peppers and Black Sabbath — and now we can confirm that the rumors were right on the money. This year’s list of acts has been unveiled, and it’s a doozy.
Legendary Black Sabbath guitarist and hero to many, Tony Iommi, has just released an update on his current condition. As many of you already know, Iommi was diagnosed with lymphoma shortly after the announcement that the original Black Sabbath members were to write a new album and embark on a world tour.
With all the controversy surrounding Bill Ward and his current exit from Black Sabbath‘s lineup, the drummer has penned an open letter to fans explaining that he has not declined to participate in the reunion, as has been widely reported. He goes onto say that he’s ‘hopeful’ that a solution can be reached and that he can rejoin the band.
We recently had the pleasure of interviewing former Black Sabbath / Dio / Heaven and Hell drummer and current Kill Devil Hill stickman Vinny Appice. One of the topics we discussed with Appice was the current drama surrounding original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward‘s threat to drop out of the band’s reunion and the rest of Sabbath’s decision to continue without him.
Rumors of Black Sabbath replacing drummer Bill Ward are swirling amid his current contract dispute, but the band has not confirmed this at all. Now, Ward’s son Aron has addressed the backlash and negativity that currently surrounds his father.
