Suspected Murderer Arrested In El Paso After 19 Years

An accused murderer who was on the run for nearly two decades is behind bars after being arrested in El Paso.  U.S. Marshals arrested 37 year old Paul Sanchez in east El Paso yesterday afternoon and booked him into Otero County Prison in New Mexico.  He's now awaiting extradition to Albuquerque.  Sanchez is accused of shooting Miguel Cabrera to death outside a dance hall in Albuquerque in 1996.  Officials say federal agents found him living in the 12000 block of Van Gogh.

Man Killed In Crash At Paso Del Norte Academy

A man is dead following a single-car rollover crash at Paso Del Norte Academy.  Police say the man was driving east in the 11400 block of Vista Del Sol early yesterday morning when he lost control going around a curve and crashed into a fence and a bus stop bench before rolling.  It's not yet clear whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.  Authorities say the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Suspect Charged In Bank Standoff

A man who held police at bay for several hours in El Paso is facing state charges of making terroristic threats.  The standoff began late Monday afternoon at a BBVA Compass Bank on the city's east side.  Police say Carlos Ramos was upset with the bank about his account and while holding a package told those inside he had a bomb.  As it turns out he didn't and surrendered to police around nine Monday night.

Texas Gas Prices Slowly Falling

Gas prices in Texas are going down, though you may not notice it.  Triple-A says the statewide average price of regular is down a penny from last Tuesday after slipping a fraction of a cent lower overnight Monday.  On average, the fuel is costing drivers in the state $2.60 a gallon compared to $3.51 a year ago today.
