Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Same-Sex Marriage
Fernie can now officially get married, thanks to a ruling by the Supreme Court.
On Friday, The U.S. Supreme Court made same-sex marriage legal nationwide, ruling that refusing to grant marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples violates the Constitution.
The ruling came in a 5-4 vote. Thirty-seven states, and the District of Columbia already recognized marriage equality
Thirty-seven states and the District of Columbia already recognized marriage equality. The ruling will now bring marriage equality to the 13 states that still banned same-sex marriage, including Texas. The ruling also requires those states to honor same-sex marriages that were legally performed in other states.
