El Paso's bike-share program, SunCycle, launched on Wednesday, with bikes now available for rent downtown.

Eighty bikes are available at eight solar-powered kiosks throughout the downtown area, and near the University of El Paso, with more to be added in the future. The bikes can be rented at one kiosk and then returned to any of the other kiosks. Locks are also available for those who would like to rent a bike and run errands, and return it later.

The bikes can be rented with a credit card at the kiosks, starting at 30-minute time spans. Daily rentals are also available, as are 30-day, semester-long and annual memberships. Memberships can be purchased online at SunCycle's website. Prices start at $6 for a half-hour, with each additional 30 minutes priced at $2.

A map of kiosk locations is available on SunCycle's website.

The program is similar to ones offered in other cities, including San Antonio and Austin.
