We like big butts and this'll tell you why.

Actually, it's not the butts. Thanks to our cavemen ancestors, it's the curves.

Scientists at the University Of Austin convinced men to look at women's booties, bet that was tough, and rate them. Those with a 45.5 degree curve from back to hiney were the favorites.  They showed them different sized rear ends to butt, pun intended, those with that same curvature still won.

The lead researcher explained:

“This spinal structure would have enabled pregnant women to balance their weight over the hips. These women would have been more effective at foraging during pregnancy and less likely to suffer spinal injuries.

Another researcher added:

“This adds to a growing body of evidence that beauty is not entirely arbitrary, or ‘in the eyes of the beholder', but rather has a coherent adaptive logic.”

So, there you go.  We like big butts because they ensure easier, more successful pregnancies.  Not because we like a little "junk in the trunk".
