Shower Rat Is The Newest Internet Sensation

Look out Pizza Rat because you've got competition! Shower Rat is making the rounds on social media platforms and it has people talking. According to The Sun the video was posted on Reddit by Peruvian electronic DJ Jose Correa from Huaraz City, Peru. He said he woke up on Saturday to take his shower when he discovered the rat in his shower doused in soap and cleaning himself up. He even takes a moment to scrub in his armpit. Social media reactions were quick to come up with theories that range from it's a fake robotic rat, it's a trained rat and that it's glued to the floor of the bathtub. And while most reactions have been positive saying how cute it is, but according to Gizmodo it's possible that the rat is not adorably taking a shower because it's cute and wants to make humans go "Awww." Gizmodo talked to Tuomas Aivelo, a researcher in Urban Rat biology at the University of Helsinki in Finland who said:

“A rat wouldn’t do that unless there’s something it really wants to get rid of. I think it’s soapy all over. That’s probably a problem for the rat. It just wants to get rid of the soap.”

When asked if it was in pain Aivelo said: “It’s totally possible." It totally makes me rethink going "Aww". But Correa did tell The Sun that he did let the rat go back into the wild, so maybe it just needed to soap up and go on its way. Here are some hilarious reactions to #ShowerRat
