Senate Candidate Uses the “F” Word. A LOT.

On today’s show we interviewed Congressman Beto O’Rourke (D-El Paso) who’s running for Ted Cruz’s senate seat. I’ve known Beto for many years but I never knew this about him: he drops the F Bomb during speeches. Frequently.

Seriously, it’s enough of a known phenomenon that The Texas Tribune has made a compilation video.

This came as a genuine surprise to me because I’ve never heard Beto use a swear word, not even a “hell” or a “damn”. Now, it’s true most of my interactions with Rep. O’Rourke have been in an radio interview setting where The F Word is strictly forbidden. But we always get a chance to visit off the air and we’ve had some social interaction away from the radio station and I never would have guessed that he’s an F Bomb dropper.

Normally, I would say that this kind of coarse language might hurt him with more conservative voters. But, those conservative voters elected a guy who boasts about grabbing women by their P Words so maybe The F Word isn’t considered a deal breaker by those people anymore. Unless they’re big F Wording hypocrites which, of course they are.
