El Paso area restaurants go through routine health inspections from time to time. Want to know how your favorite spots did?

Generally, the Department Of Health in El Paso inspects restaurants twice a year. Those with really bad problems, or that have a history of failing their inspections, may be visited as often as every 30 days.

A "perfect" score for a restaurant is 100, with 70 being the minimum passing score. According to the El Paso Times, restaurant inspections include:

checking for rodents or insects, checking the average temperature of the food served, making sure refrigerating units are working properly, searching for any plumbing leaks, making sure grease traps are not overflowing and checking that all licenses are up to date.

The Times set up a database you can use to see how your favorite restaurants did.  Some of the highest scoring establishments were 5 Guys Burgers on Sunland Park (100), Ardovinos on Cincinnati (100) and Big Dog Hot Dogs on Westway (96).
