Chances are there are certain things you don't want to do at work. It could either be a task that is extremely tedious, or there's something else that comes up that you would rather be doing. It happens to everyone. It's one thing to think these thoughts, it's another to act on them, and a whole other thing to not only act on them, but to do what Officer Gary Nel did.

Nel made news back in 2015 with a video that showed him body slamming a DUI suspect. Now, just one year later, he's back in the news, but for being on the opposite side of the work ethic spectrum.

In July, Nel was suspended for 30 days because he failed to cover a fellow officer. That would be bad enough, but it's really how he did it that takes this to a whole new level stupid/lazy/WTF. There was a disturbance at a Whataburger in San Antonio that Nel arrived at. A fellow officer was dealing with an intoxicated man causing a disturbance. But, when Nel showed up and the manager asked him if he was there to help with the disturbance, Nel replied that he was not there to help, he was there to eat.

They eventually were able to take care of the intoxicated man, but the other officer had to call for backup because Nel wouldn't help him out. When asked about what happened, Nel told internal affairs that nothing happened. He was eating Whataburger and saw two officers outside having already handcuffed a man.

This just adds to the negative things going in Nel's file, which include being suspended for failing to find drugs on a suspect and due to an altercation, being transferred from traffic.
