Road Closures For West El Paso This Week

El Paso is having road construction all over the city. Find out where, when and what hours Eastside streets will have construction this week.

The City of El Paso is working hard to make the streets better and easier for people to travel on in the future. Unfortunately, this means for the next few months and maybe years we will be dealing with more traffic than normal on various sides of town.

Here are the road closures and lane restrictions for this week, September 19th through the 25th:

I-10 West

• Sunday, Sept. 18, through Thursday, Sept. 22
  9 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. each morning
  I-10 westbound will be reduced to one lane between the Executive Center overpass and the Paisano (US 85) overpass.
  This closure is necessary so crews can continue paving of the new westbound lanes.

Mesa

• Monday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Sept. 23
  9 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. each morning
  Two right lanes on North Mesa Street (SH 20) will be closed between Osborne Drive and Remcon Circle.
  A right turn lane coming from the westbound Mesa exit ramp onto North Mesa Street (SH 20) will be closed.
  Crews will be installing a sewer line in the area and constructing new columns for the improved I-10 bridge over North Mesa Street.

Five-Day Continuous Closure

• Beginning 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, and re-opening at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23
  A right lane on North Mesa Street (SH 20) will be closed between South Desert Boulevard and Osborne Drive (in the direction traveling toward Doniphan Drive).
  A right lane on North Mesa Street (SH 20) will be closed between Osborne Drive and Remcon Circle (in the direction traveling toward Remcon Circle).
  Crews will be working on a nearby waterline and a sewer line.
  When work is complete, the I-10 intersection with North Mesa Street (SH 20) will be completely transformed with improved turning movements, added lanes on South Desert Boulevard, and a complete bridge span over North Mesa Street (SH 20).

Resler

• Tuesday, Sept. 20
  10 a.m. to noon
  The Resler flyover entrance ramp to I-10 eastbound will be closed.

Bridge Preventative Repair Project

• Sunday, Sept. 18
  9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (the following morning)
  Complete closure of I-10 westbound at the Airway Boulevard overpass
  Detour: Westbound traffic will exit at the Hawkins exit ramp and re-enter at the Airway entrance ramp.
• Monday, Sept. 19, and Tuesday, Sept. 20
  9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (the following morning)
  Complete closure of I-10 westbound at the Cotton overpass
  Detour: Westbound traffic will exit at the Cotton exit ramp and re-enter at the Downtown entrance ramp.
• Wednesday, Sept. 21, and Thursday, Sept. 22
  9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (the following morning)
  Complete closure of I-10 eastbound at the Cotton overpass
  Detour: Eastbound traffic will exit at the Dallas exit ramp. (Follow detour signs)
  Crews will be cleaning and sealing bridge joints.

Guardrail Repair Project

• Monday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Sept. 23
  9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (throughout the day)
  Alternate lane closure on I-10 east and westbound between Anthony Avenue and Sunland Park Drive
  Left lane closure on North Desert Boulevard between Hoover Avenue and Enchanted Springs Road
  Left lane closure on South Desert Boulevard at the Transmountain (Loop 375) intersection to include the turnaround
  Left lane closure on McCombs Street southbound between Sweetwater Drive and Sarah Anne Avenue
  Left lane closure on Ramp H (I-10 eastbound to US 54 northbound)
  Eastbound Yarbrough exit ramp will be closed at the César Chávez-Border Highway (Loop 375).
  Alternate east and westbound on Transmountain (Loop 375) between US 54 and I-10
  Right lane closure on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (FM 3255) northbound between Loma Del Sur Drive and Jon Cunningham Boulevard
  Crews will be repairing damaged guardrail in the area.
  Maintenance
• Monday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Sept. 23
  9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (throughout the day)
  Right lane closure on Montana Avenue eastbound between Airway Boulevard and Avalon Street
  Left lane closure on Woodrow Bean-Transmountain Drive (Loop 375) east and westbound between Plexxar Drive and Northwestern Drive
  Left lane closure on Mesa (SH 20) north and southbound between Resler Drive and Sun Bowl Drive
  Left lane closure on Gateway East between Marr Street and Raynolds Street
  Eastbound Raynolds exit ramp will be closed.
  Crews will be working on concrete riprap in the area and cleaning up all debris, trash and vegetation.

Maintenance Stripping

• Monday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Sept. 23
  9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (throughout the day)
  Alternate lane closure on Artcraft Road north and southbound between I-10 and New Mexico state line
  9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (the following morning)
  Alternate lane closure on Artcraft Road north and southbound between I-10 and New Mexico state line
  Crews will be working on removing and installing skip stripping.

Aesthetics Project - Phase III

• Monday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Sept. 23
  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  Alternate left and right lane closures on Gateway East between Copia Street and Raynolds Street
  Alternate left and right lane closures on Gateway West between Chelsea Street and Raynolds Street
  Alternate left and right lane closures on Gateway North and South between I-10 and Montana overpass
  Crews will be working on the aesthetic towers.

Paisano Landscaping Project

• Monday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Sept. 23
  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  Alternate east and westbound lane closures on Paisano (US 62) between Eucalyptus Street and Montana Avenue

Pedestrian Enhancements Project

• Monday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Sept. 23
  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  Alternate north and southbound lane closures on Wildcat Drive (Spur 6) between Doniphan Drive (SH 20) and Anthony (FM 1905)
  Rehabilitation/Operational Improvements Project
• Monday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Sept. 23
  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  Alternate lane closures on South Desert Boulevard between the Vinton overpass and Transmountain (Loop 375)
  Left lane closure on I-10 east and westbound between David Road and Vinton overpass
  Crews will be working on removal of brackets at new turnaround bridge.
  Note: During this time there will only be business access at South Desert Boulevard between Westway Boulevard and David Road.
  Reminder: North Desert Boulevard remains closed until further notice between the Transmountain entrance ramp and the Vinton exit ramp.

Transmountain – West Project

• Monday, Sept. 19, through Friday, Sept. 23
  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  Alternate lane closures on Transmountain (Loop 375) north and southbound frontage roads between Resler Drive and Tom Mays Park

Tom Mays Park Entrance Project

• Monday, Sept. 19, through Saturday, Sept. 24
  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  Alternate eastbound lane closures on Transmountain (Loop 375) between Paseo Del Norte and the Main Gap (mile marker 17)
  Bike lanes are closed for duration of project.
  Crews are working on the share path crossing for this project.
