And this comes as a surprise to ... who??

Oddly enough, this has nothing to do with politicians, lobbyists, spin doctors, reporters or any of the other usual suspects.  It has to do with the average person on the street.

Coca Cola recently tried an experiment with their "Honest Tea" product.  They set up unmanned kiosks around the country loaded with Honest Tea and watched from a distance to see who would leave the posted fee and who would just take the tea and go.

The most honest places were Hawaii (this involved tea, not a birth certificate) and Alabama!  In those places, 100% of people paid despite there being no one there to watch them.  Texas did ok, with 87% of people paying for their drink.

Washington DC did really bad.  Not only did the least amount of people cough up the dollar for their tea (80%), but someone stole the company CEOs bike during the experiment! (That probably was a politician.)

On the whole, America is pretty honest! The national average came in at 92% of folks paying with women doing a little better than men. (95% vs. 91%)

Honest Tea Chief Executive Seth Goldman said:

"Even though my bicycle was stolen the same day as our D.C. experiment, it's reassuring to know that 92% of Americans will do the right thing even when it seems no one is watching."

USA! ... USA! ... USA! ... USA!
