Officials are warning the public about a scam involving the officer who was severely beaten last week.  Officer Jonathan Molina remains in critical condition at University Medical Center after suffering a fractured scull, internal head injuries and multiple facial fractures during the attack.  Molina was off duty when he saw one of three young men key his car.  He then got in his car, pulled up next to the men and confronted them.  One of the men, Juan Antonio Gonzalez, allegedly struck Molina on the face and grabbed his legs and threw him to the concrete, got on top of him and punched him in the face.

The El Paso Municipal Police Officers Association is warning the public about a fundraising scam tied to Molina.   As part of the scam, callers ask for personal information such as credit card numbers to take donations.  The association says it does not make phone calls to solicit money and anyone who wants to help Molina should contact the association at 256-7822 or visit their office at 747 E. San Antonio, Suite 103.
