Photos of the Progress at San Jacinto Plaza
San Jacinto Plaza was supposed to look like this by November of 2014:
Back in 2013, the City of El Paso announced the exciting news that San Jacinto Plaza in downtown would be getting a facelift. Well, it's 2016 and this is all the progress that's been made so far:
The $6 million renovation was pushed back multiple times for various reasons. including waiting for a special wire used to hold up the canopy that will house the 'Los Lagartos' sculpture.
In November of 2015, Monica Lombraña, director of the city's Capital Improvement Department, said once the canopy is complete, the remainder of the work "should be quick."
I took the photos Jan. 3, 2016. So now I'm wondering: What will be completed first? The altar Pope Francis will use when he visits Juarez in February 2016, which is expected to accommodate around 220,000 people or San Jacinto Plaza?
I'm going to say the altar will be completed first.
