Loud and heavy music defines Zakk Wylde. He works out to Ministry, loves Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, and was Ozzy Osbourne‘s longtime guitarist. He also serves as the leader of Black Label Society.

But during those long stretches of travel while on tour, Wylde likes to dial it down and listen to mellower tunes by some notable old-school artists.

“I mean, the last thing I feel like listenin’ to [on the bus] is heavy music. … I’ll listen to the Eagles, I’ll listen to Neil Young, Elton John. You know, just all the good mellow stuff,” Wylde admits.

Wylde says he’ll event throw on some classical music. In fact, he’s been boning up on his classical guitar skills.

Chances are Wylde fans won’t hear any of that during Black Label Society’s fall tour opening for Judas Priest. The next date is Wednesday in San Antonio.
