Why Do Teachers Make Outrageous School Supply Lists? [PHOTOS]

Thinkstock

Why the heck are some Schools asking for 4 Boxes of Crayons PER Student ? Ziploc Bags?

Before all you teachers get all mad off at  me , and start correcting my writing, typing and grammar skills. Please note, I’m only pointing out how outrageous school supply list have become . I’m NOT questioning your teaching skills (although some should be questioned!)

1. I understand how hard it is to put up with kids

2. I understand wow underpaid you are

3. I understand how hard it is to deal with parents

I have friends that are teachers , but none took the job for money. They took it to make a difference in a young person’s life. Thank you!

Did I miss anything? OK. Now my turn.

Do any of you teachers look at the list of stuff you ask kids to bring?

Do kids really need:

4 boxes of 24-count Crayons per student

5 composition notebooks

3 spiral notebooks

A set of 3.5mm headphones?

1 box of”Prang Watercolors.” Must be Prang or good quality watercolor palette

1 box of Ziploc bags: Gallon and quart size

and the kicker, “More additional school supplies after school begins.”

I remember the days, we took 2 pencils , a 5-subject notebook, a wooden ruler (that we would lose on the 1st week), a few extra notebooks, and my favorite rock album notebook cover. What happened to those days?

Please teachers, stop asking for crazy stuff. Stick to the basics! Notebooks, rulers, pencils, glue  and 1 set of crayons. Check out this list, yes its from El Paso.
