Black metal legend. Radio host. Music journalist. Cat lover. Forced city council member. Fenriz is all of these things and more.

Dark throne formed back in 1986 and has become arguable one of the most influential Norwegian Black Metal bands. Half of this legendary duo is Gylve Fenriz Nagell, better known simply as Fenriz. The band has an incredible 16 albums and are currently working on their 17th album, Arctic Thunder. When you think of Scandinavian black metal bands, the media usually associates them with church burnings, Satanic rituals and other acts. Never before have we seen city council member thrown into the mix.

In an interview with Clyvynt, Fenriz talked about the band's new album, his work as a music journalist and how he ended up begrudgingly becoming a member of his local community government in Kolbotn, a suburb of Oslo:

"Basically, they called and asked if I wanted to be on the list [of backup representatives]. I said yeah, thinking I would be like 18th on the list and I wouldn’t really have to do anything. They just need a list to be able to … well, it’s hard to talk local politics in another language. My campaign was a picture of me holding my cat saying, “Please don’t vote for me.” But people just went nuts. After the election, the boss called me and told me I was a representative. I wasn’t too pleased, and I’m not too pleased about it. It’s boring. There’s not a lot of money in that, either, I can tell you!"

The photo is pretty amazing and you can check it out here. Safe to say I would have voted for him myself if I lived in Kolbotn.
