The wait is over for Aggie fans. Bosque Brewing is now canning the Pistol Pete's 1888 Ale and it will be sold throughout Las Cruces.

"Pistol Pete’s 1888 Ale has been an exciting journey and it’s been an amazing experience working with everyone in the athletics department and at the university in general," said Gabe Jensen, co-founder of Bosque Brewing Co. and an Aggie alum. "This beer combines two of my favorite things, beer and Aggie athletics and I’m so excited to be able to have them in my fridge and at tailgates." It is currently being offered in kegs at approximately 30 locations around the state of New Mexico, mostly in Las Cruces. The cans will be sold at all Las Cruces area Pick Quik locations, along with Celebration, Kelly Liquors, Lowe's, and Toucan Market.

"The collaboration with Bosque Brewing in the creation of Pistol Pete’s 1888 Ale has been one of the more innovative and fun projects we have accomplished during my tenure," NMSU Director of Athletics Mario Moccia said in the official press release. "Being one of the first schools in the licensed collegiate beer category was exciting and our relationship with Gabe Jensen and Kevin Jameson as NM State alumni brought passion to the project. Over the last year, Pistol Pete’s 1888 Ale has been a fan favorite and a big seller at tailgate parties, Aggie games as well as postgame celebrations. I am happy that after a long wait we will all be able to enjoy Pistol Pete’s 1888 Ale in cans."

Bosque Brewing's website describes Pistol Pete's 1888 Ale as "a brilliant pale straw-colored ale with a light malt sweetness and just enough late addition hops to add flavor and aromatic nuance." It checks in at 4.8% ABV with 20 IBU. NMSU is celebrating the canning release of Pistol Pete's 1888 Ale today from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Bosque Brewing Public House (901 E. University Ave. #3A).
