We don't know what it is about "Smells like teen spirit" and "Come as you are" that get Nirvana fans going, but apparently, in one recent poll, they're the ones most likely to have sex on a first date, while Coldplay fans are most likely to chat and run.

Tastebuds.fm, a dating site built on the notion that music binds two hearts together, conducted a survey in late March of its members asking how far they'd likely go on a first date. Within a week, more than 400 gave an answer to one of three questions:

  • I'd only meet up for a chat
  • Perhaps a kiss
  • All the way, if there was chemistry

Then, being a music-based site, Tastebuds.fm cross-referenced those responses with its members' music tastes and found that those least likely to go all the way on a first date were fans of Kings of Leon ("Sex on Fire" is all talk, no action?), Katy Perry ("California Girls" are big teases?), Lady Gaga (scared away by "Bad Romance"?), Adele (too much heartache on "21"?) and in the top most likely to wait, wait is Coldplay, whose fans aren't having any sex "In My Place" or yours, for that matter, on those initial dates.

(If it seems like the chart is missing a lot of artists (and genres), it's because Tastebuds.fm relied on Last.fm’s top 20 most popular artists.)

On the other end of the chart, fans of Gorillaz have no problems with feeling good enough to jump in the sack, nor do those who aren't afraid of being in the "Gold digger" camp (Kanye West). Also "One step closer" to a homer on a first date: Linkin Park and Metallica, whose fans will do more than bob their longish locks in concert. Finally, Nirvana fans also want to find some kind of nirvana in their love lives, and preferably, the sooner the better.
