In the beginning of the Boston Marathon, there was a 26 second moment of silence to honor the victims of the Newtown tragedy. In the race itself, nine members of the Newtown community were running in the marathon to honor the victims. The race was also honoring the 26th victims by having at the end of the 26th mile, the seal of Newtown surrounded by 26 stars. The group of runners called themselves the 26 strong, and were running to raise money for the families of the victims.

Also at the race, were family members of the Newtown families. They were sitting in the VIP section of the race close to where one of the explosions occurred. As son as I can confirm the whereabouts of the family members I will update this post for you. For more information click here. For more information on the 26 strong, click here.
