A Las Cruces, NM police officer has been placed on administrative leave after allegedly answering the door naked for a pizza delivery woman.

A Las Cruces pizza delivery driver went to deliver a pizza to a home in Las Cruces around 5:30 p.m. on November 3rd. The driver said when she arrived she made her way to the front door through the house's sun room a man opened the door. Officer William Gonzalez opened the door naked and according to the driver made no attempts to cover himself. The driver said he claimed to have just gotten out of the shoer but his hair wasn't wet and he didn't have a towel. The man then signed the receipt and tipped the driver, and according to the Las Cruces Sun-News, never tried to cover himself. The driver left and immediately notified her supervisor of the encounter, who then notified police. Officer Roman was the officer who was dispatched to take the report.

In the police report, Officer Roman said he received a phone call on his person cell phone from Officer Gonzalez asking that the situation be kept a "10-35," code for confidential. After the report was taken, Officer Gonzalez was immediately placed on administrative leave. Officer Gonzalez was cited for indecent exposure.

The Las Cruces Police Chief Jaime Montoya released a statement regarding the incident:

"It is truly sad that an employee knowing right from wrong still does wrong against all reason. It is also sad that an employee will put a fellow employee in a tough position of having to inform a supervisor of misconduct. I'm proud that [our] employees recognize our rules and policies and have the strength to report these incidents because it is the right thing to do. All conduct whether on or off duty is a direct reflection of who we are as an organization. If that conduct is against our values or policies our employees will be held accountable."
