A New Mexico man set fire to his apartment after he grew exasperated with his neighbor's noisy sex.

An Albuquerque man was so frustrated by his neighbor's noisy sex he set fire to his own apartment  so he could get away for the night. Reuben Cook to some seriously drastic action when he set fire to his own apartment on Sunday night.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, the 36 year-old attempted to burn anything he could in his apartment so he could spend the night in prison. Police arrived on scene around 10 p.m. to the multi-story apartment complex and found minor damage.

Inside of Cook's apartment police found four spots where the fire originated from. When asked by police what happened, he told them he started the fires in his apartment.

According to the complaint,

“He stated that he heard people having sex upstairs and making a lot of noise. Mr. Cook stated that by starting the fires he could go to ‘prison’ and get away from the noise.”

Cook was arrested by police and charged with arson. The suspect's father David Cook said his son suffered a stroke 7 years ago that left him mentally impaired. The older Cook said that doctors had to remove part of his brain and that he's "not in control of the things he thinks. It was not something that he planned.”
