A man in New Jersey was shot in the butt over the weekend after a dispute with a neighbor over a shovel.

According to a Newark police report, a man was shot during the weekend after a dispute with a neighbor over a shovel he was using to clear an elderly neighbor's driveway.

The man told police he was helping an elderly neighbor clear their driveway with a shovel he found on the ground outside the neighbor's home. The snowfall was around 2 feet from the previous night and he began working away to clear a path. While he was digging, a female neighbor confronted him for taking the shovel she said belonged to her.

Words were exchanged between the two neighbors and the man gave the shovel back. After, he began walking back to his home when he was then again confronted by the woman this time accompanied by three men. One of the men pointed a gun at the victim's head, while the woman told him to shoot. The man did fire at the victim and struck him in the buttocks.

The victim attempted to grab the gun from the assailant and a struggle began. During the struggle, he was hit in the mouth by a second woman. The victim ran back into his house while the attackers fled in a green car. Police have not released the condition of the man who was shot or if any arrests had been made in the shooting.
