Customs and Border Protection officers seized multiple drug loads this past weekend at the Santa Teresa Port of Entry. They were able to keep a lot of drugs from reaching our streets.

Around 4:30 p.m. last Friday, agents inspected an empty horse trailer. The agents scanned the side of the trailer and noticed some anomalies. Once they drilled into the side the officers found 215 bundles filled with a green substance. Test confirmed it was marijuana and arrested the driver. The drugs weighed 552 pounds and have an estimated street value of $441,600.

The second bust came earlier on Friday. Customs and Border protection officers arrested the driver of a Ford Explorer after they found cocaine. Officers found four bundles filled with cocaine. The drugs weighed five pounds and have an estimated street value of $160,000.

Both drivers were turned over U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They will face charges linked to the failed smuggling attempt
