Mexican Police have captured two drug cartel leaders. The leader for the Juarez drug cartel, Jesús Salas Aguayo, was arrested in the town of Villa Ahumada. He assumed leadership of a criminal organization based in Ciudad Juarez after the capture of Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, in October 2014 and after the arrest of his partner, David Aaron Espinoza Haro, which occurred in January 2015.

The arrest occurred the same day that Mexican Police captured the leader of the Gulf Cartel, José Tiburcio Hernández Fuentes, in the city of Reynosa. The arrest lead to hours of street fighting. Busses were set on fire and used to block roads. Members of the drug cartel shot at government buildings in an attempt to prevent his transfer to Mexico City.

I visit our sister city Juarez often. When yesterday's news broke, I wondered if there would be a surge of violence since the leader of the Juarez Cartel was arrested. I'm glad to see that Mexican authorities are doing all they can to regain control of their country.

Check out these crazy pictures from yesterdays gun battle in Reynosa, Mexico. It almost looks like something I expect to see in Iraq or some war torn area.
