Crazy Simon, known to legions of Borderland rock fans for his antics at rock concerts, will be buried at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.

According to All That Music:

Simon’s funeral service will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Drive at 3 p.m. on January 7. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held Monday, January 9 at 11 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to “future ROCKERS” at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Following the funeral service Saturday, a tribute concert will be held at 5 Points Bistro, 3019 Montana. A live DJ will kick things off at 5:00, followed by performances from Bash, Texas Roadkill, Kaos and Hot Shot Kixxx. Between bands the DJ will play and "open mic" tributes to Simon will be made. All are welcome to attend and/or speak.

Over the years, Simon amassed thousands of rock T-shirts, picks, broken guitar parts, set lists, etc. Some of these items will be given away at the memorial and others will be sold with all proceeds going to St. Jude Children's Hospitals; Simon's chosen charity.

Again, all are welcome to pay tribute to a man who entertained thousands upon thousands, for decades, at rock concerts all over the El Paso area.
