Does this really come as a surprise to anybody? The Marlboro Man (the guy in Marlboros advertising campaigns, not the Don Johnson character that starred with Mickey Rourke) has died from smoking related causes.

72 year old Eric Lawson, the "Marlboro Man" from 1978-1981, died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.  Lawson was also in “Baretta”, “The Streets of San Francisco”, “Charlie’s Angels,” ”Dynasty” and “Baywatch.”

Several actors played the Marlboro Man character over the years including David Millar who passed away from emphysema in 1987 and David McLean who died of lung cancer in 1995.  (All of this really makes me wonder why Duke Keith did not have Lawson on his dead pool list this year.)

Lawsons' wife said an injury while working as a stuntman ended his TV/movie career. Funny, had he continued with the dangerous stunt work and not smoked; he might have lived longer.

The irony in this story is incredible.
