The famous pants-wearing sponge is getting his own musical! Some of the biggest names in music have signed on to write original songs for The Spongebob Musical that will premiere on June 7, 2016 at the Chicago’s Oriental Theatre.

According to Cartoonbrew, The Spongebob Musical will start off in Chicago and move to Broadway from 2016-2017 season. The music is going to be amazing now that we know all the artists that are contributing original songs to the future Broadway hit.

David Bowie, Panic at the Disco, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, T.I., Cyndi Lauper, The Dirty Projectors, Lady Antebellum, The Flaming Lips, They Might Be Giants, John Legend and The Plain White T's are confirmed to be working with director Tina Landau and musical supervisor Tom Kitt to make this underwater dream a reality.

I am a little afraid to see how they are going to create the character ever since Buzz Adams traumatized me by sharing a trailer of the Spongebob porno, but I feel the soundtrack is going to be pretty amazing. The cartoon is already a mega hit and has had some great musical guests like Pantera in prior episodes. I know I'll be trying to get a ticket to see this unique musical, until then I'll go head and binge watch some of my favorite episodes.
