Macy's announced plans to close 100 stores back in August, and today released the fate for at least 65 stores including an El Paso location.

After disappointing holiday sales, Macy's has released plans to cut 10,000 jobs and close 68 stores by the middle of 2017. The department store chain also released plans to restructure the flailing brand's management, and shifting the company's strategy to new store concepts and the website. Of the next few years, Macy's will be closing an additional 30 locations when leases expire and other operating contracts are completed.

The local Macy's location at the Sunland Park Mall is expected to be closed by the early Spring. The Cielo Vista Mall location will remain open. The Sunland Park Mall Macy's location opened back in 2004 and employees over 70 people. Workers could possibly be offered positions at other Macy's stores if the company is able to.
