Lonely Planet Magazine Gives Props to Southern New Mexico
Lonely Planet, an international travel magazine, has listed Southern New Mexico on their top 10 "must see" travel destinations list.
The Las Cruces Sun-News quoted Lonely Planet's P. R. manager, Natalie Nicholson, as saying:
“We chose southern New Mexico for a number of reasons and features which will be highlighted in our editorial, including the newly established Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument, Native American archaeological sites, White Sands National Monument, its volcanic fields, places where WWII bombers and Apollo astronauts trained and more.”
A free e-book will soon be available at LonelyPlanet.com, highlighting the area and a big article is planned for the March issue of the magazine. Las Cruces CVB executive director Philip San Filippo told the Sun - News:
"There's a lot of positive things going on, and I think Las Cruces and southern New Mexico is starting to get a lot more buzz." "People are noticing us and reaching out to us."
