Lochlann Green - singing/songwriting/guitars/drums

When did the band get together, and how?

I've been a musician all my life but officially have been playing guitar and singing for 12 years now. I created the name Union Glory back last year in 2011 while trying to come up with a bandname/moniker to release my upcoming alternative/indie rock album "The Silent Times".

How would you describe your music to someone?

I'd say it's a mixture of Scottish/Irish/English traditional and folk music with a touch of alternative/indie rock and a little bit of country as well.

Who are some of the bands that influence your music?

As a folk singer/songwriter, some of the artists that influence my music is that of Scottish folk artists like Kris Drever, Julie Fowlis, and Roddy Woomble (of the band Idlewild). Also some other folk influences are Kate Rusby, Jenna Reid, Dochas, Danu,  Paul McKenna Band, Manran, Red Hot Chili Pipers, Skerryvore, and John McCusker. I'm also very influenced by the music from Shetland which is one of the Isles off the Northeastern coast of Scotland and music from the Western Isles of Scotland. I'm an avid listener of Celtic Music Radio which is a radio station in Glasgow Scotland and is made up of different radio shows and hosts throughout the week who bring a big variety of music from artists all over Scotland, Ireland, and America. I get a lot of influences from that as well.

As an alternative/indie rock singer/songwriter, some of the bands that influence my music is that of bands like Travis, Idlewild, Doves, Coldplay, Oasis, Keane, U2, Radiohead, The Chakras, Our Lady Peace, and Death Cab For Cutie.

Country artists that also influence me are Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, Sara Petite, Miranda Lambert, Jerry Douglas, and Dixie Chicks.
Local artists that influence me are Emily Davis, Elyse Wieland, Omar Cuellar, Ross Fleming, Our Friend The Mountain, Cigarettes After Sex, Ralpheene, The Lusitania, The Royalty, Jamie Hernandez, and Alison Westermann.

What is your most memorable gig so far?

One of my most memorable gigs was playing with Elyse Wieland at McKelligon Canyon for Cool Canyon Nights in July 2011. I loved McKelligon Canyon and it had inspired the title of my song "Starry Starry Canyons". For a few days before that gig, I had gotten together with Elyse Wieland to practice some of her songs and work out some other songs together that we would be playing for the show. It was one of the best times I had ever worked together with another artist.

Are you currently signed to any kind of label or management?

I am not currently signed to any label. I have temporarily created a self-released label for myself called "Skye Sounds" which is taken from the titles of two of my songs "Skies Of The Scots" and "Lost In Sounds", but spelled as Skye as in the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

What other bands have your members been/are in?

I havent officially been in any other bands, though one of my previous solo side-projects was called "The Dwellers".

What other local bands would you recommend people check out?

I would recommend people to check out Emily Davis and the Altar Boys, Cigarettes After Sex, Ralpheene, The Lusitania, The  Royalty, Our Friend The Mountain, Omar Cuellar, Ross Fleming, Elyse Wieland, Jamie Hernandez, and Alison Westermann.
