Alien: Covenant hits theaters this weekend. I'm still behind thought and haven't even seen Prometheus yet. So I think I might have to have an Alien movie marathon to properly catch up to the new movie. But in the mean time, if you're like me, you can just watch this video of the life cycle of the Hercules beetle. It basically looks like an Alien movie without all the death.

  • Some reports claim the Hercules beetle can lift up to 850 times its own weight! So imagine you are a 200 pound man. You'd be able to lift 170,000 pounds with that ratio. But most accounts are that the Hercules beetle can lift up to 100 times its weight.
  • It's larval stage lasts one to two years.
  • They can reach up to 17.5 cm long
  • They are native to the rain forests of Central America, South America, and the Lesser Antilles.
