Las Cruces Prisoner Flees Hospital & Steals Truck

Authorities are looking for a Las Cruces prisoner who escaped from Memorial Medical Center Hospital late Wednesday night. Cops say Michael Derby fled from the hospital naked and stole a truck at a convenience store.

Michael Derby was taken to the Dona Ana County Detention Center earlier this week after he allegedly went on a crime spree from Las Cruces to El Paso and back. Authorities are asking the public to call 9-1-1 if they spot Derby.

Derby is 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Derby carjacked and briefly kidnapped a man at gunpoint Sunday morning in El Paso so he should be considered dangerous.
