Epilepsy Patients Can Now Use Cannabis Oil For Treatment

Epilepsy patients in Texas can now use cannabis oil for treatment.  Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill yesterday allowing the oils, but noted it wouldn't lead to marijuana legalization.  The governor says the oil will provide hope for children who are dealing with seizures.  It's up to the Texas Department of Public Safety to license and regulate dispensaries who will sell the oil.

Blue Bell Makes Deal In AL On "Test And Hold" At Plant

Blue Bell is making a deal with Alabama to start "test and hold" operations at their plant.  Blue Bell officials are hopeful the agreement will assure customers the Brenham-based creamery is doing all it can to return ice cream to the shelves.  The agreement includes an analysis to figure out what the potential or actual sources of Listeria contamination are.  It also includes having an independent microbiology expert create controls to keep new Listeria contamination from happening.  Creamery officials also thanked the public for its support after having to recall all of its product earlier this year.

Six UTEP Football Games To Be Televised

UTEP football fans will get a healthy dose of games on television this season.  Conference USA announced the TV schedule yesterday, revealing six games will be aired featuring the Miners.  The games include away games at Southern Miss, Old Dominion and North Texas on Fox Network.  UTEP's home game against Louisiana Tech will also be televised by Fox Network.  The other two games fans can catch are at Texas Tech on Fox Sports regional networks and home against Rice on CBS Sports Network.

Job Fair This Week For Veterans, Military Spouses

A job fair for veterans and military spouses is being held this week at Fort Bliss.  The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation is hosting the Hiring Our Heroes job fair this Wednesday from ten a.m. to one p.m.  The event will be held at the Centennial Banquet and Conference Center.  There is also a workshop at 8:30 a.m. that focuses on resume writing and interviewing.  More than 20 employers are scheduled to be on hand, including VT San Antonio Aerospace and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Red Cross Begins "Giving Day"

The American Red Cross is initiating its first "Giving Day" today.  "Giving Day" is a national campaign that supports the efforts made by the Red Cross.  President and CEO Hail J. McGovern says they are rallying the U.S. in support of their efforts to help people in need.  Folks can participate in Giving Day by going to the American Red Cross website.
