Get your telescopes out because on Friday night (July 27th) a total lunar eclipse will turn the moon red! A.K.A. a blood moon. You know what the blood moon is, it's that thing in American Horror Story: Roanoke when the moon turns red and it allows the spirits of all the people who died there to return to the land and haunt the crap out of Sarah Paulson for days. But in all seriousness, the blood moon occurs when the sun, Earth and moon align perfectly, putting the moon in the Earth's shadow. The moon will be totally eclipsed by the Earth for one hour and 43 minutes, making it the longest lunar eclipse of the century (so far).

A lunar eclipse happens roughly twice a year, but because this one is longer it makes it extra special. A vast majority of people on Earth will be able to see it perfectly, unfortunately for us in the United States we won't be able to see it at all! By the time night falls and the full moon rises in our neck of the woods, the eclipse will already have ended and we'll have to wait until January 21, 2019 when the next full lunar eclipse will be. But of course, with a looming blood moon will come the crazy conspiracies.

Enter Pastor Paul Begley who went live on YouTube the other day to say that the world will definitely be ending on Friday July 27th. The video is over two hours but he quotes the bible so by his means, the world is coming to an end. The quote he reads is from the Book of Joel, which says: "The sun will turn into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes." Fun fact; this theory was first brought up in 2014 when we had a blood moon in October. The theory didn't really go to plan and we all lived another day. But will this Blood Moon be different? We'll just have to wait and see. Maybe Kathy Bates and Wes Bentley will show up to our house with a mob demanding we leave their property.
