A recent poll says it is but, many disagree.

A loan provider known as Veterans United released a study listing El Paso as the 5th best city inTexas for veterans to live in and the 14th best across the country. You can see the entire list here.  According to KTSM, that ranking was based on economic wellness, employment, availability of veteran affairs benefits and quality of life for veterans.  City Manager Tommy Gonzalez said:

City staff works hard to make El Paso an exceptional place to live for our military, veteran and civilian community members.” “El Pasoans deserve the best, and we are striving to provide them with an improved quality of life and continued economic growth.” - KTSM
