Officials at the El Paso Sheriff's Office are still trying to determine what led to a diarrhea outbreak that caused over 700 inmates to fall ill. The Sheriff's Department said Saturday the inmates at the jail annex reported mild symptoms of diarrhea and that their health services provider was monitoring the situation.

The situation at the jail comes in the midst of a nationwide salmonella outbreak tied to Mexican cucumbers distributed by a San Diego company.  There is no word on whether the mass illness at the jail might be tied to that outbreak.

Our news partners at KVIA-TV ABC 7 got reaction from family members of inmates. As you can tell, family members were concerned for their loved ones health. #PrisonerLivesMatter

We will keep you posted on any updates we get on this story.
