An indie filmmaker, inspired by the spaghetti westerns of the 60's, is filming his own western right here in El Paso.

Frank Powers says it started with his Dad's love of spaghetti westerns. Powers told the El Paso Times:

"My dad was a big Western fan, so I sat with him for hours watching all the spaghetti Westerns." "One of my favorite Westerns was 'The Outlaw Josey Wales.' It was my dad's favorite, so we probably watched it a thousand times. I guess you learn to love what your parents like."

Powers, an El Pasoan since the military brought him here in '96, has done his share of acting with over 20 roles in "Gunslingers", "Navy SEAL Jerry G. Angelo Project", "Lone Survivor," "Marvel's The Avengers" and more.

The movie he's filming in El Paso, "Brothers James: Retribution, is about two brothers mistaken for Frank and Jesse James. He's filming all around El Paso and is working with 17 - year old Socorro High School graduate Aaron Morga. Morga recently beat out over 4,000 other entrants in the "48 Film Project" competition to be named best editor.
