Iggy Pop was back onstage recently at New York's Carnegie Hall for the annual Tibet House benefit concert and he used the occasion to salute his late, dear friend David Bowie.

During the performance, Pop pulled out a pair of Bowie favorites for those in attendance. As you can see in the fan-shot video below, Pop rocked a bit of "The Jean Genie" with members of the Patti Smith Group. He also added another familiar song called "Tonight," which both he and Bowie recorded.

Pop introduced the track to the crowd stating that it was "a wonderful, elegant song with a deceptively simple lyric. And I think it's the right lyric for right now and for tonight." He then proceeded to perform the song with the help of Sharon Jones. Watch the performance above.

Pop and Bowie were close, especially during the '70s as they lived and worked together during a period following Pop's exit from the Stooges. "He resurrected me," Pop told the New York Times. "The friendship was basically that this guy salvaged me from certain professional and maybe personal annihilation -- simple as that."

Bowie passed away Jan. 10 after a battle with cancer. Check out Pop's musical tributes above and below.
