Unless you've been living in a hole (sorry, today is National Cliche Day and had to start this blog out with that) you know that the second season of Stranger Things came out last weekend and it's kind of a big deal.

How quickly did I get through the second season? My girlfriend and I started it last Friday and wrapped it up this past Wednesday. For us, that's pretty damn fast. But not near as fast as others. Joanna was done with season 2 the day after it was released. Which would put her in the category of people that binged the whole season in just 24 hours. And that category has a lot of people in it.

While Nielsen claims they can track how many people are watching Netflix shows, Netflix says their numbers are way off. Netflix very rarely releases any info on how much people are watching it's shows, so we have to go with Nielsen's numbers. And if they are ever remotely close, season 2 was huge.

Here is Stranger Things season 2 by the numbers (for the first weekend):

  • Episode one was watched by 15.8 million people.
  • The last episode was streamed by 4.6 million people. So it's safe to say around 4.6 million people have watched the season.
  • 361,000 people watched the entire season in a 24 hour period.
  • The average number of episodes watched in one sitting was 3.2.

Again, these are Nielsen's numbers that were gathered using methods they use for regular TV like, electronic meters, tags, and surveys.
