Lisa And Mike From KLAQ Hand Out Ice Cream During EP Rush Hour

The traffic on Mesa Street has become unbearable the past few months. KLAQ decided to make some angry drivers happy by handing out some sweet treats.

The traffic in El Paso is becoming more and more ridiculous everyday. Use the freeway everyday to get to and from work? No worries, the city will shut a couple lanes and maybe an entrance or two. Use a side street instead? See, there's this street car project that is going to make them close two other major roads in the UTEP area. All that's left is Mesa Street. So now, there are hundreds maybe even thousands of people using the same streets to  get around the westside of the city.

On Friday by the KLAQ studios, there were a lot of angry drivers trying to get by the intersection of Executive and Mesa Street. We saw several drivers stuck in traffic and try to shove their way in, and even a couple go across our front grass to cut in front of other drivers. In an attempt to ease some of the tension, Mike Tipton and I decided got hand out ice cream to the nice drivers stuck in the traffic.

Why?

Because sometimes a random person giving you an ice cream cone can brighten your day. Also because we had a lot of ice cream leftover from the El Paso Ice Cream Fest vendors that came in earlier in the day.

We hope our little stunt made some people have a better afternoon commute.
