Costumed metal band Gwar is planning to continue its North American tour, despite the recent loss of guitarist Cory Smoot. Frontman Dave Brockie issued a statement saying they have decided to carry on "after a lot of consideration." Brockie says the band was tempted to return home and "curl into the fetal position," but he explains neither Cory nor the fans would want them to quit. Smoot, who performed as Flattus Maximus since joining Gwar in 2002, was found dead in his bunk on the band's tour bus last week. A cause of death for the 34-year-old is still unknown.

Although they've decided to continue their current trek, the band is retiring the Flattus Maximus character.
