Cyandide Studios certainly hit the jackpot when they got the rights to George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones, well before the TV show launched it into another realm of popularity. They’ve already cranked out a (mostly successful) real-time strategy game called Game of Thrones: Genesis and are set to bring out the simply titled Game of Thrones, a role-playing game for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

True to the genre, the game will features nearly as much combat as conversation, allowing you to play your character as you see fit. You’ll have a lot of familiar locations and faces to meet along the way, too. In the game James Cosmo will reprise his role from the show as Jeor Mormont, Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, and Conleth Hill will once again play Lord Varys, The Spider.

Since it’s an RPG you can bet the focus is on the story, and they’ve got a new trailer that shows the two heroes of the game- Mors, a sworn brother of the Night’s Watch, and the red priest Alester.

Game of Thrones will hit stores on May 15, 2012.
