Some foods are so closely identified with a certain country or area, if not flat out named after them, that you would never believe they are totally American. The french dip sandwich, for example, isn't French. It's from L. A.Nachos? Nope, not Mexican at all. They were created in a tortilla factory in Texas to get rid off the broken and messed up chips. A guy named Nacho, what else?, supposedly started adding other stuff in a border town restaurant near Eagle Pass, Texas. Surprised we didn't invent those here in El Paso. We did come up with Chicos Tacos though!

The Chinese didn't come up with fortune cookies, Americans did. General Tso's chicken was created by Chinese cooks but, they did it after they came to 'Merica. Check out some other "foreign" foods that aren't. what else? Well, garlic bread isn't Italian, Cuban sandwiches aren't Cuban and German Chocolate cake , well, isn't. There's also no Easter Bunny and Santa Clause is a fake.

Have a nice day!
